Architectural highlight in the Ruhr area
The walkable bridge sculpture by Frankfurt artist Tobias Rehberger is one of the architectural highlights in the Ruhr region. Like a jumping spiral, Slinky Springs to Fame crosses the Rhine-Herne Canal and connects the Kaisergarten Oberhausen and the Emscherinsel in the immediate vicinity of the Oberhausen Gasometer and the Ludwig Galerie.
To traverse the 50-meter-wide canal, long ramps climb up in switchbacks and loops at a height of ten meters on both sides without stairs, allowing the structure to grow to a length of 406 meters. With its illuminated rings, Slinky Springs to Fame glows in bright colors at night. The changing colors of the plastic decking on the 2.50-meter-wide bridge create an impressive scene, especially during nighttime illumination.
Slinky Springs to Fame is one of the landmarks on the Route of Industrial Heritage in the Metropole Ruhr.
