The Smithfield Street Bridge is the oldest of the numerous road bridges over the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh. It is probably one of the most important of the original lenticular bridges still in existence worldwide. It was built between 1881 and 1883. In the background looms the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad Station, a historic landmark that embodies the industrial charm of the city. It was built in 1898 and served as a passenger train station until the 1960s. Classical black and white impression.
