I made this image during the snow and ice festival, in the centre of Harbin. A large city in northeast China, with a population of five million.
At the time of this sculpture, it was the heart of winter, with an average temperature of -25. Ideal weather for making giant snow sculptures.
It was early January and the artists were putting the finishing touches before the festival would officially open.
In this image, you can see a detail of one of the snow creations, which can be up to 30 metres high. In the foreground, you can see part of a flute, which the woman is playing. Behind it, you can see her face, which has been carved in minute detail. At the top of the sculpture are the wavy locks of hair and the blue sky above.
The artist adds a colourful element to this sculpture and beautifully depicts the proportions!!!
