Tips for use

About ‘Space and light at Banjaard Beach’ by Werner Lerooy

On the wide sands of Banjaard Beach, the horizon seems endless. The white beach stretches along the North Sea and is interrupted only by a few walkers moving through the landscape. Their presence actually emphasises the vast scale of the surroundings and lends the photograph a pleasant sense of freedom.

The simplicity of the coastal landscape creates an almost timeless atmosphere. Sand, sea and sky form vast, tranquil expanses in which the human figures become mere accents. The image evokes long walks on the beach, fresh sea air and that special feeling that arises when you walk along an open beach, far from the hustle and bustle.

Banjaard Beach is a popular destination on the Zeeland coast, but this image does not focus on the hustle and bustle. The open space takes centre stage. The walkers seem to be calmly going their own way, lending the landscape a natural rhythm.

As a piece of art on the wall, this photograph brings a sense of space and light into an interior. It is a recognisable coastal scene that simultaneously evokes a feeling of freedom and relaxation. An invitation to let your mind wander for a moment to the vast Zeeland coastline, with nothing but sand, sea and the horizon.
