Spectrum of emotions

by Christian Ovís

‘Spectrum of Emotions’ shows an eye in close-up, with an iris full of intense colours. Around the black pupil are bands of yellow and orange, blending into red, turquoise, blue and purple. Small, subtle reflections give the eye a glossy surface. Long, dark eyelashes frame the top and bottom. Warm highlights and subtle textures appear on the skin around the eye, whilst the corners of the image remain dark.

The composition focuses entirely on the iris. Radial patterns radiate outwards from the pupil, connecting the different colour zones. The deep black in the centre provides a calming anchor amidst the vibrant hues. The curved eyelids and eyelashes provide a clear frame. Small splashes of colour along the lower edge add details that are only noticeable up close. The result is a recognisable eye with a distinct, almost abstract landscape of colour within.

This colourful eye artwork suits a modern interior where a striking image is welcome. In a living room, study or creative space, the piece forms a striking focal point. Dark furniture can echo the pupil and eyelashes; turquoise, orange or purple accessories complement the iris. A neutral wall gives the many colour details room to breathe. The piece combines a direct gaze with a rich interplay of light, texture and contrast.
