Speicherstadt in Hamburg, Germany, is a complex of warehouses built between 1883 and 1927 on a series of islands in the riverbed of the Elbe. The storage zone is part of an older part of the port of Hamburg. The first warehouses, built with brick on a pile foundation, were put into use in 1888.
The complex is part of the Hamburg HafenCity district in the Hamburg-Mitte district. It is separated from the Altstadt by the water of the Zollkanal and connected to it by eight bridges.
The photo was taken from the Poggenmühlen-Brücke.
