Spring Summer Autumn Winter "The four seasons Spring is an ancient derivation of long and refers to the lengthening of the days ("length") Summer is the summer solstice (around 21 June Autumn is the autumn equinox around 23 September in the northern hemisphere, and around 20 March in the southern hemisphere. This is when the sun passes through the autumn point and the day and night are then almost the same length all over the world (this phenomenon is called the equinox). Autumn ends around 22 December in the northern hemisphere, and around 21 June in the southern hemisphere, with the winter solstice. Winter comes from the primeval Germanic word *wintruz. is one of the four seasons in temperate and polar regions. The alternation of winter with the other seasons is caused by the tilt of the earth's axis Originally, the Germanic regions divided the year into only two (summer and winter) and later three (summer, winter and spring) seasons. Years were counted as winters (e.g. after seventeen winters is after seventeen years The four seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a cycle of four violin concertos composed by Antonio Vivaldi. He completed this work in 1723. The four seasons is Vivaldi's best-known work and is among the most popular works of classical music.
