About the artwork

This photo of the Sint-Annatunnel for pedestrians and cyclists was photographed in Black-White, as this better reflects the overall tunnel scene.

The Sint-Annatunnel is a pedestrian and bicycle tunnel under the river Scheldt in the city of Antwerp. Construction of the Sint-Annatunnel began under the direction of IMALSO in 1931 and the tunnel was opened in 1933.

This 572-metre-long tunnel, which is 31.57 metres underground, is also known as the Pedestrian Tunnel by the people of Antwerp and has connected the city to the Left Bank, in other words the older to the newer Antwerp, since 1933.

The Sint-Annatunnel is accessible via lifts and escalators. The escalators work continuously, 24/7. Every Thursday, the escalators are serviced. At that time, the tunnel is always accessible via the lift.

Heavy (electric) bikes, such as cargobikes and cargo bikes, are not allowed on the escalators. They can use the lift. Cyclists are allowed to ride at walking pace through the tunnel (maximum 5 km per hour). Mopeds and speed pedelecs are allowed through the tunnel, but with the moped or speed pedelec in hand. You must switch off the engine as soon as you enter the lifts.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
