This photo art piece is based upon my own photograph of wild lilies growing on my land in Central Italy. The lilies are called St Bruno's Lily or Paradise lily and are native to the Alps, the Pyrenees and the Apennines. They propagate by seed and appeared on my land a couple of years ago with just a couple of stems with flowers. This year there are clumps of them, with their beautiful white flowers with yellow centre. They grow on quite tall stems so they rise above the tall grass. I think they look stunning against the backdrop of the cypress trees reaching up toward a dramatic sky. I decided that taking an impressionist style with this image would promote that contrast between the lilies and the trees without getting too lost in the detail.
Born in the South of England I now live half way up a mountain in Umbria, Italy. I work from my art studio looking out over fabulous views of the Italian countryside. I am so happy to share my artwork with you.
