About "St. Joseph's chapel under the old lime tree"

About the artwork

The 19th-century Saint Joseph Chapel under an old linden tree. The brick and sandstone chapel stands on a landscaped knoll in the middle of a meadow near Horst Castle in Holsbeek, Belgium. A storm several years ago damaged the linden tree, giving it a somewhat unusual growth shape. If you look closely, you can see that the tree is supported by straps around the trunk.
Although Horst Castle and this chapel had been on my list for a while, I passed by this spot more or less by accident that day. I had my camera in the car so I decided to take some pictures of the castle. After sunset, I noticed that the sky was quite clear and the first stars appeared. I decided to stay a little longer and headed for the nearby chapel.
As often goes when I am in the field, I lost track of time a bit. When I finally returned to the car I noticed that it was pitch dark and -2ºC. Cold feet, in other words.
