Is it possible to capture the mystery of the night sky? I always ask this question when I travel through the high mountains where light pollution is minimal and seems like you can grab the stars with your hand.
This photo of starry sky was taken in the Himalayan mountains at the altitude of 6,000 m. The photo was taken with the shutter speed of 30 min. At this slow shutter speed, you can see that the earth is moving. The streaks of light in the photo are the stars or other celestial bodies moving in the half-hour time.
These mountains are in the Himalayas close to the Tibet-Nepal border and are difficult to reach. Together with a few researchers, we went there by car to look for the origin of large reviers under the eternal snow. In September, it cools down to as low as -15 degrees at night. No guesthouse or hotel... Sleeping under fantastically beautiful starry skies in your tent is a huge adventure!
During the expedition to Tibet, I was able to take some photos'of the night sky. Tibet is definitely the place for a lot of inspiration.
