Stately ibex in earth tones by Lauren Wilde

Stately Capricorn in Earth tones

This painting shows a stately ibex emerging from the canvas almost like a sentinel. The pose is upright and proud, with the long, powerful horns towering high above the head and immediately attracting attention. The ibex exudes calm and confidence, as if it is untouchable in its mountainous domain. The animal here is not in motion, but rather in a moment of stillness and observation, giving the work an almost timeless character.

The style is abstract-figurative, where form and atmosphere are more important than precise details. Using broad, loose brushstrokes, the body is composed of layers of paint that overlap and fade. This creates depth and a subtle play between sharpness and softness. The ibex seems to partially merge into the background, reinforcing the sense of being at one with its surroundings.

The colour palette consists of warm earth tones such as ochre, brown, sand and beige, complemented by darker accents in the horns and shadows. These colours give the painting a natural, subdued look and create a warm atmosphere. The soft light in the work emphasises the animal's shape without being harsh.

This painting is perfect for lovers of wildlife, mountain landscapes and nature art with a modern feel. It fits beautifully in a quiet, modern or rural interior, but also in an office or reception area where strength and calm are allowed to come together. A work that does not scream for attention, but rather gets it automatically.
