It's great to have days like this where you can see things like steam trains extensively while it's normally not so easy. A number of trains were in operation this day, from early morning until late in the evening.
This photo was taken during the day from platform 4 in Apeldoorn. This steam train was waiting for its cars to arrive, so that it too could start carrying passengers. For me the perfect moment to take a picture of this quiet and waiting steam train.
Behind the yellow NS train was another platform. There were many people on it and that always makes for a busy photo (especially in this case on the right side of the photo). Fortunately, there came a NS train. So: shutter speed low, aperture at F22 and my camera (Sony A7iii + 24-70mm F2.8) on the edge of the platform. Make sure the framing is right, the camera is stable and when the train leaves take some pictures. Obviously one of them has to be successful, and it was! Happily!
