The shy stone marten is a nocturnal animal and a predator pur sang however is also a scavenger. I was able to photograph this one in Extremadura (Spain) from a cabin with a setup of flash units both from the front and behind the scenery. After hours of waiting, this marten finally appeared on the scene, incidentally I did not manage to take such a picture on the first night, I spent four nights there and each time I was not satisfied until this time. The marten stretches to see if there is any food left in a tree stump. I do remember it was a cold evening and sitting there with a blanket over my legs and almost motionless tensely waiting, in short, patience is rewarded.
