Wallgau is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Together with Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the district capital and cultural centre, and other communities, it belongs to the Werdenfelser Land. The German-Austrian border runs just a few kilometres to the south. Together with Krün and Mittenwald, Wallgau forms the Alpenwelt Karwendel tourism association, which markets the region all year round as a starting point for sports and leisure activities such as hiking and cross-country skiing.
