Early Spring and the sun setting in Umbria, Italy. The light is bathing the landscape with a gorgeous glow that makes some of the trees colours look almost autumnal. As it is olive tree pruning season, a haze of smoke hangs in the air from the bonfires burning the cuttings. As we look at this image, on the right a gorgeous almond blossom tree frames the image and hangs like a curtain through which we look at the landscape. We can see far into the distance, past olive trees and woodland to the hills beyond, detail starting to dim at sundown. This is an impressionism style work based on my original photograph that I have enhanced digitally. As with a lot of impressionist works, it is best viewed at a distance, in order to get the full effect. Sundown and Almond Blossom Umbria Impressions.
