Sunlight in a historic church

by Henk Egbertzen

An oasis of tranquillity and history. This piece takes you through the corridors of an ancient, historic church building, where time seems to stand still.
-
Take a look at the architecture. The high, vaulted ceilings and the row of sturdy stone pillars tell the story of centuries-old craftsmanship. In the foreground on the right stands a massive pillar that frames the scene beautifully.
-
But the most beautiful detail of all is the light. Through a small, colourful stained-glass window, a warm glow of red, orange and gold falls onto the gleaming stone floor. The light dances, as it were, through the space.

I took this photograph over thirty years ago. I’ve forgotten the name of the building, and even modern search engines can’t find it anymore. But that moment, when the sunlight fell precisely through that window, is etched forever in my memory.
- This is a genuine, original photograph. Not a digital creation, but a pure and honest moment. That makes this work particularly valuable and authentic. - In an interior, this work creates a serene, almost spiritual atmosphere. Perfect for an office, a hall, a stairwell or a living room with a classic feel. A timeless work of art for anyone who loves history and the quiet magic of falling light.
