About "Sunset at Radio Kootwijk"

by Roy Poots

About the artwork

Radio Kootwijk is one of the most extraordinary buildings in the Netherlands, and at sunset it takes on something magical. In this photo, you can see the monumental art-deco building reflected in the still water, while the sky slowly turns from purple to orange. The moment the sun rises and drops its first light over the Veluwe makes the atmosphere extra special.
What inspired me was the combination of sleek architecture and the endless space around the building - you feel the silence and power of this place.

I deliberately chose a central composition, so that the symmetry of the building and the reflection can be fully appreciated. The early morning is the time when you can experience Radio Kootwijk in peace and quiet, without crowds, only with the sounds of nature around you. It almost feels like going back in time, to the days when this building played an important role in radio communication with the Dutch East Indies.

This piece brings calm, character and a touch of history into your home. Perfect for lovers of architecture, Dutch icons and photography lovers who love beautiful moments in the landscape.
