Sunset at the Green Beach (Groene Strand) on the island of Terschelling. Located on the west side of the island near the village of West-Terschelling, it owes its name to the layer of rare vegetation that used to grow here. When silting stopped the area from flooding during storms and high tides, this typical landscape disappeared. Since the 1990s, work has begun to restore this area.
This photo was taken on a very windy evening in a week when the wind force here did not go below Beaufort 5 and as many as three storms raged across the island. Consequently, the sun was not seen much although on this evening it just managed to add some colour to the sky.
