An evening to remember...
We had booked an excursion with MarcelR photography. A trip to the Engelsmanplaat. A sandbank between Schiermonnikoog and Ameland. An hour's sail from the port of Lauwersoog.
The boat left at 19:30, the weather looked grey and gloomy. There was a strong wind which made the ship move back and forth quite a bit. We decided to sit on deck to avoid seasickness.
Once we reached the plate, it was wading suit on and walking through the water to the plate. We came up to about our knees in the water.
At the plate, we saw that the sky was starting to change, a little light was actually emerging through the clouds.
At that point, it was gaze on the horizon and search for a nice spot. Towards sunset (9.35pm), the sky broke open amazingly. It created beautiful light with lots of colour.
Partly due to the strong wind, the clouds passed quickly. This is clearly visible in the photo, I used a long shutter speed here to capture this well.
Around 10pm, it was time to walk back to the ship.
We enjoyed the beautiful sunset for a while.
