About the artwork

The Upper Rhine is a partially dug river on the border of the Netherlands and Germany. However, one speaks of Rhine. In Germany, the river is still called Niederrhein, but as soon as it crosses the national border of the Netherlands at Spijk, its name changes to Upper Rhine.

A man stands ashore with a stick or fishing rod and looks at the sun pushing its rays through the clouds. The sunlight reflects romantically on the water of the river.

Hans Thoma (Bernau im Schwarzwald, Baden-Württemberg, Germany 2 October 1839 - Karlsruhe, 7 November 1924) was a German painter. He practiced various styles but was predominantly associated with symbolism. The artist went to the Academy of Visual Arts in Karlsruhe in 1859. From 1870 to 1876 he lived in Munich and after that he settled with his wife Cella in Franfurt. Thoma had a great eye for detail and a preference for precise lines and demarcated colouring. He often opted for allegorical, mythological subjects, with clearly symbolistic tendencies.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
