This work is about the vulnerability that comes with being transparent about our feelings, needs and desires we experience as human beings. Out of protection, we prefer to keep them to ourselves. When we really want to connect with the other, it takes guts and being transparent about who we are. The work is composed of light and dark layers just as our feelings are sometimes light and dark. Surrendering in connection takes guts, especially when you know loss of previous connections. With alcohol ink, I wanted to accentuate the fluid softness of the woman and her vulnerability. The deep dark colour, black, grey and white give her strength in this surrender. "A thin silverlining" to frame her forms.
She suits you when you recognise yourself in her strength and vulnerability and fits into a space where connection with the other is central or invited.
