About ‘Swan’ by Cees van der Linden

The mute swan (scientific name: Cygnus olor) is one of the heaviest flying birds in the world and the most common swan in the Low Countries. It is instantly recognisable by its snow-white feathers, graceful S-shaped neck and, of course, the black knob on its orange beak. Behaviour and Lifestyle Majestic but noisy: Although the mute swan is less "roept" than its wild counterparts, its wings make a characteristic singing or whistling sound when flying.

Diet: It feeds mainly on aquatic plants, which it picks up from the bottom with its long neck (grazing), but it also likes to graze on meadows. Monogamy: Swans are known for their lifelong partner exchange, although it does happen that they seek a new companion after the death of a partner.

Reproduction: The mute swan builds an impressively large nest of reeds and branches along the water's edge. During the breeding season (usually from March/April), the male, or drake, is extremely territorial. He fiercely defends the nest and the young against intruders by hissing and threatening them with his wings. A clutch consists of an average of 5 to 8 eggs, which hatch after about 35 to 42 days.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
