This digitally drawn watercolour depicts flowers reaching higher and higher towards the sky. The flowers are abstract, but the colours are derived from the Lantana that is in my garden.
I see it as a sign of growth, without limitations, the sky is the limit.
The abstract form is my trademark, botanical abstract.
It is minimalist work, with the warm, cheerful colour pink giving a summer feeling. It would fit well as an eye-catcher in a minimalist interior, Scandinavian or Japandi.
My work is inspired by nature, flowers and plants, all the beauty Mother Earth gives us. My personal tribute! Let's take care of all that beauty, and use it with respect and love, nature can do very well without us, we not without nature
Has it ever been different?
I was always drawing ー as early as primary school, the margin of my notebooks was full of scribbles that didn't have much to do with what was supposed to be there. A lot of nature, especially flora.
The older I got, the more impressed I became with nature: the blooms, the awe-inspiring beauty, the details of flora.
I kept drawing that in everything I did. On paper, digitally, more or less minimalist and sometimes abstract. The playful minimalism and harmony of line drawings fit me like a warm coat. The rendering of transparency and contrasts clarify the essence of the subject and create a calm image. Sleek and sober with sometimes a fresh accent, that's what I love.
My work was used several times in the television programme 'VT-Wonen, fall in love with your house again'. In the coffee book of 'Werk aan de muur', an anniversary edition published in 2022, a page was dedicated to my work.
