The majestic tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl (built in 1914) passes the lighthouse as the sun sets.
It was built in 1914 by Joh. Scheepswerf C. Tecklenborg in Geestemünde as a school training ship for the German merchant navy under the name of Grossherzog Friedrich August. After the First World War the ship was awarded to the United Kingdom and in 1921 was bought by former cabinet minister Kristofer Lehmkuhl (hence the name, meaning "Cabinet Minister Lehmkuhl"). Except during World War II, when it was captured and used by German troops under the name Westwärts, the ship belonged to Bergens Skoleskib from 1921 until it was donated to the Foundation in 1978.
