This magnificent pagoda temple in Panauti is the Indreshwar Mahadev temple, one of the oldest and most impressive Hindu shrines in Nepal. Built in the 13th century in the Newar architectural style, it is dedicated to Shiva, one of the most venerated gods of Hinduism.
Its three-roofed structure, decorated with finely carved woodwork, bears witness to the craftsmanship of the period. The temple is decorated with red fringes and rests on a brick base, contrasting with the blue sky in the background. The grasses growing on its roofs add a touch of authenticity and add to its ancient charm.
This sacred sanctuary plays a central role in local spiritual life and hosts important Hindu rituals and festivals, attracting devotees and visitors alike. Set in peaceful surroundings, it illustrates the cultural and religious richness of medieval Nepal, while remaining a living witness to its history and traditions.
