Texel Lighthouse beneath a threatening sky by KB Design & Photography (Karen Brouwer)

Texel’s distinctive lighthouse stands proudly above the dune landscape, whilst an impressive and menacing blanket of clouds gathers above the island. Together with the small row of historic houses, the red lighthouse forms a striking feature in the otherwise vast landscape. The warm light on the dune grass and the red roofs contrasts beautifully with the cool, dark hues of the sky.

It is precisely the vast expanse of sky that gives this photograph its distinctive character. The clouds appear to be in constant motion, creating an almost dramatic atmosphere, whilst the landscape itself remains calm and untouched. The lighthouse serves as a natural focal point within the image, guiding the eye across the landscape.

The combination of the Texel dunes, characteristic buildings, the striking lighthouse and the impressive cloudy sky makes this photograph an atmospheric, quintessentially Dutch coastal landscape. A beautiful fine art landscape photograph for lovers of Texel, the Wadden Islands, lighthouses and dramatic skies. An image that beautifully captures the rugged yet serene beauty of Texel.
