The village of Wanaka is situated on the lake of the same name and surrounded by mountains. In the lake you will find New Zealand's most famous tree, the Wanaka tree. A little hidden at the edge of the lake is this tree, a willow, with its trunk in the water. By the way, at low tide it has dry feet! Because of the beautiful surroundings, in the lake with the mountains in the background, this tree is very photogenic and definitely worth a visit. March 17, 2020 there have unfortunately been vandals who found it necessary to saw off the right branch. On this photo, the tree is fortunately still intact.
