I struggled with the title of this photo painting of my dog Spud. This once black dog apart from a white muzzle has gradually started to develop a lot of grey hairs. His face actually looks quite grizzled and people mistake him for an older dog. He is actually only eight years old. I think he looks quite distinguished, in a Stewart Granger sort of way. Stewart Granger was a British actor who looked very suave and sophisticated with his as his sideburns and hair turned grey.
In Spud's case, he is a rescue dog and did not have a very good start to his life until he came to live with us. That may have contributed to his early greying. But, of course, while we might assume the grey hairs are associated with age and wisdom, Spud still has a lot of the puppy about him. He regularly engages in 'zoomies' around the room! Well out of puppyhood and settled well into middle aged maturity, I think we can afford to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he has reached the age of wisdom.
Why black and white? I think it shows the contrast between his greying hairs and original black coat rather well.
