About "The Birth of Venus"

About the artwork

The name The Birth of Venus may suggest something different from what is depicted in this painting. This image, made around 1483 by Sandro Botticelli, is however the translation of The Birth of Venus as it is told in Greek mythology. The story goes like this:

The goddess Venus (also called Aphrodite) is born of the sea and rises as a full-grown woman from the sea foam. Blown forward by Zephyrus (the personification of the west wind) and Aura (the personification of the light wind) she floats on a large shell towards Cyprus. In the painting she arrives at her destination and the goddess of spring, Flora, is waiting for her with a cloak to cover her naked body.

The Birth of Venus is one of the most famous paintings in the world and can be viewed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. In addition, in Paphos, Cyprus, the history of Aphrodite is still richly visible to those interested.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
