The Black Cat by the Blue Horizon

by Daan Dirk

This peaceful digital painting captures the simplicity and beauty of a Mediterranean seaside terrace. A small black cat sits quietly on a white stone wall, gazing toward the endless turquoise sea. Its elegant silhouette creates a striking contrast against the bright surroundings, adding a sense of solitude and quiet contemplation to the scene.
The terrace features classic Mediterranean architecture, with smooth whitewashed walls, a rich blue wooden door, and a pale stone floor illuminated by warm sunlight. Several cobalt blue ceramic pots hold green ornamental plants, creating a harmonious connection between nature and architecture. Tall cypress trees rise behind the buildings, adding vertical accents to the composition.
On the left, the calm sea stretches toward a crisp horizon beneath a clear blue sky. The water transitions from bright turquoise near the shore to deeper blue in the distance. Gentle shadows fall across the terrace, emphasizing the curved walls, textured paving stones, and decorative plants.
An abstract blue and cream artwork hangs on the wall, introducing a contemporary design element that complements the traditional coastal setting. The combination of minimalist architecture, expressive brushstrokes, and a cool blue palette creates a fresh and relaxing atmosphere.
This illustration is ideal for modern coastal interiors, printable wall art, bedrooms, living rooms, reading corners, and creative studios. It also appeals to cat lovers and admirers of minimalist Mediterranean design. Displayed as a framed print, the artwork brings a sense of openness, calm, and seaside elegance to any space.
