About "The Bull Amersfoort"

About the artwork

The Bull was made by the Amersfoort artist Thijs Trompert for the manifestation Urban Wijland in 2006. Twelve artists wanted the people of Amersfoort to look at their surroundings in a different way and start thinking about the field of tension between city life (Urban) and the surrounding area (Wij-land).

The Bull is a subtle commentary on urbanization. He seems lost in the city, but still found a patch of grass. The bull first stood in the Stadhuisplein and was on display at Kunstkavel in Vathorst. Since 2007 the Bull stood as a wooden sculpture on the traffic circle at the Kamp.

The wooden sculpture was set on fire by vandals on 30 July 2009. After this an alternative was sought for the Bull. Thijs Trompert, then alderman Arriën Kruyt and entrepreneur Franz Schrandt came up with the idea to replace the wooden bull with a new bull made of more durable and 'immortal' material: a steel bull. The wooden bull was, as it were, a prototype for a new, all-surpassing steel bull. On March 27, 2011, the new Bull was festively brought to its place.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
