The Bull as a Power Animal

by Jopie Bopp

The Bull – Power Animal of the Earth Element

Head-on and unstoppable, he bursts forth from the light: a dark, powerful form set against a whirlwind of glowing yellow and deep red. His horns glow like embers, whilst the streaks of colour around him coalesce into a vortex. The bull remains calm at the centre of the movement, grounded, composed and fully present.
In the tradition of power animals, the bull represents the element of Earth. He embodies strength, willpower and perseverance. As a companion and power animal, the bull teaches us to trust ourselves, to follow our own path with patience and persistence, and not to let external pressure throw us off balance. In shamanic interpretations, too, it is regarded as a symbol of fertility, stability and the connection to the earth. Those who call upon it find support, steadfastness and the strength to see their endeavours through to the end.
The painting, rendered in warm, fiery colours, translates this energy into lively, expressive brushstrokes. Splashes and lines lend the scene a sense of dynamism, whilst the animal’s heavy, dark mass radiates grounding and presence. The painting invites you to feel your own inner strength and to navigate change with a firm footing.
A work for anyone wishing to create a place of strength, courage and connection to the earth – as a daily inspiration to walk their own path with steadfastness and confidence.
