The Cuyperspassage in Amsteram. Bicycle tunnel in Amsterdam.
The Cuyperspassage is a piece of art in the centre of Amsterdam.
The tunnel annex railway bridge is located at the west side of the Amsterdam Central Station and leads from the Stationsplein to the De Ruijterkade. The tunnel enables direct pedestrian/bicycle traffic between Martelaarsgracht - Westelijke Toegangsbrug - Stationseiland - De Ruijterkade - IJfer connections. Before that cyclists had to use the quays along Wester and Ooster Access. This would also apply to pedestrians. Although there were already foot tunnels under the tracks, these were fitted with access points that could be operated with the OV-chip card. The one hundred and ten metre long, ten metre wide and three metre high tunnel is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists (mopeds and scooters are not allowed). The two flows of traffic are separated by a difference in level in the walking/cycling surface.
