About ‘The Fields XVII’ by Zand

The images from the series The Fields show a strange natural world, a field with indefinable species of flowers and plants in bloom, but also in decay. Both are of a special beauty, and I try to capture those two moments in a single image.
In many images from the series, the types of flowers and plants are not recognisable, but they do convey the feeling of a lush field. That is what I am looking for.

From dozens to sometimes hundreds of images generated by AI tools, a selection is made and layered on top of each other until a new composition emerges, working with transparencies, dark contrasts, soft transitions and bright colours.

I try to create a new world that evokes memories of fields full of flowers, grasses and plants. Working from a low angle creates an intimacy with the subject, as if you are standing in between them. The sometimes baroque, dreamy images fit in with a rural, classic or vintage style as well as a sleek interior.

Zand (Hans Zandvliet) is a Leiden-based artist who began his artistic journey around 1979. Driven by a passion for painting and design, he took courses at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. These formative years marked the beginning of his journey of artistic exploration.
In Leiden, he established a graphic design studio. His studio served not only as a source of income, but also as a space for artistic experimentation and the development of new ideas.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
