The ceiling of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, an architectural jewel in the heart of Milan, is a breathtaking example of 19th-century innovation and aesthetics. Designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni and completed between 1865 and 1877, this masterpiece consists of an impressive structure of iron and glass that spans and protects the gallery. The roof is composed of four arched sections, each about 14.5 metres wide and 8.5 metres high, which converge in a majestic central dome. This dome, with an internal diameter of about 37.5 metres and a height of 17.1 metres, is the radiant centrepiece of the gallery and offers an unparalleled sense of space and light.
