The Hef is an iconic railway bridge over the Koningshaven in Rotterdam, known from, among other things, the movie The Bridge, made by Joris Ivens in 1928. The two outer parts date back to 1878, the lifting section in the middle was placed in 1927 as a replacement for the original swing bridge.
Since 1993, the train traffic uses the railway tunnel and the Hef is no longer used. This picture shows the monument along with the slightly less noticeable Koninginnebrug. On the left we see the Noordereiland, on the right the neighbourhood Feijenoord, in the background the Nieuwe Maas river and Kralingen.
