In the center of the old city of Leiden stands the castle. The castle is built on a hill so that the surroundings can be seen clearly. Through the large entrance doors of the gate, the Hooglandse Church can be seen. The construction of this colossal building began in 1314, first of wood and then of stone, until about 1500. The original intention was to build the largest church, but due to lack of money, only the choir and the transverse arms were completed. This work shows a fine pattern of shadows and lights on the centuries of stone ground of the castle. The work was made on an early spring day in March 2022. the tree in the foreground has only a few buds and the branches give a beautiful silhouette against the clear blue sky. this work can be ordered in both color and black and white.
