This work is a collage of 2 famous paintings, namely The Milkmaid by Johannes Vermeer and the painting The Mother's Task by Pieter de Hooch. The Milkmaid is posted in Pier de Hooch's kitchen where a mother is checking her child for lice. The kitchen in a plain Dutch interior, with Delft blue tiles and a bedstead. In the front right is a 'kakstoel', a highchair with built-in pointer. Through the door is a glimpse of the sunny back room and garden. These kinds of vistas were De Hooch's speciality.
