The Santorini chair

A solitary chair, a few red flowers and, before it, the vastness of the Aegean Sea.

In Santorini, sometimes it takes next to nothing to create an unforgettable scene. The sun slowly disappears behind the islands, whilst a long exposure stretches the clouds across the sky and bathes the terrace in a soft light with shades of pink, gold and mauve. This old white chair seems to be waiting for someone. An invitation to sit down, forget about time and simply watch the day fade away over the sea.

In this photograph, I wanted to capture all the simplicity of Santorini: its sun-bleached walls, its vibrant flowers, the traces of time and that Mediterranean light which transforms the most ordinary things into precious moments.

A gentle, contemplative image, like a space left empty facing the horizon.
