This picture of Aachen's Tivoli was taken during the magical blue hour and shows the stadium at night in a very special light. A gap in the clouds allows natural daylight to penetrate through the cloud cover, creating a spotlight effect.
The photo was taken as a long exposure, resulting in fascinating traces of light from the tail lights of passing cars on the left edge of the picture. These dynamic light trails lend the picture a special energy and movement.
In the bottom right-hand corner of the picture, you can make out the outflow of the pedestrian overpass with the iconic CHIO Aachen logo.
The floodlit Tivoli shines in all its splendour in this shot, making the image a highlight for every Aachen fan and photography enthusiast.
