The Ferry Terminal takes its name from the ferry service to Katendrecht on the south side of the Nieuwe Maas , which was established . Already in the 15th century Until the opening of the William Bridge in 1878 this was the only connection between the North and South Shore of the Nieuwe Maas. The ferry service until 1968 when Metro took over the North-South connection.
The Ferry Terminal was from 1900 to about 1980 under the management of Royal Rowing and Sailing Club De Maas and was also used by members to lakes. Their yachts Along the quay are characteristic houses like the former offices of the Coal Trading Association (SHV) and Van Uden. Also of architectural interest is the clubhouse performed in Jugendstil ( 1908) of De Maas designed by architects Barend Hooijkaas jr. , And Michiel Brinkman.
