The western side of the Binnenhaven is the Brede Haven, built between 1441 and 1449. However, it used to be called Achter den Steenoven, after a corner house called 'De Steenoven'. It has now become an apartment complex.
The iconic Fishbridge is mentioned in written sources as early as 1356. At the beginning of the 15th century the Brede Haven was still referred to as 'the street beyond the Visbrug'. The first quay walls developed along the Brede Haven. The Bossche Haven was always a busy centre of trade.
