Veiling is a painting technique where thin layers of watercolour are painted over one another over long periods of time. Dynamics are applied through light and dark after which a representation emerges in the work.
This is one of my first veil works made as a result of a school assignment.
I set up colour from warmth and softness. Then I started adding some contrast with indigo. As I continued the process layer by layer, the image of a woman in a robe suddenly emerged. I highlighted this one and made it come alive.
A dreamy and spherical work with soft and warm colours, yet also a work that exudes power.
