Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘The city gate: Venlo station by night’ by JacArt Prints

In this striking architectural image, we see Venlo station as a luminous beacon in the night. The enormous canopy, an iconic design by architect Koen van der Gaast, is brightly lit from below, making the rhythmic lines of the structure stand out in sharp relief. The deep blue evening sky provides a cool contrast to the warm glow on the station square.

The composition is exceptionally strong thanks to the use of the tactile paving in the foreground. This light line acts as a visual pathway, leading the viewer directly to the station entrance. The clock tower, with its characteristic green-lit dial, provides a necessary vertical counterbalance to the building’s broad horizontal lines.

Historical context
Reconstruction: The current station building was opened in 1958. It replaced the old station, which had been severely damaged during the bombings of the Second World War.
Vision: Architect Van der Gaast no longer viewed stations as richly decorated 'paleizen', but as functional gateways to the city. The canopy was intended to offer travellers a sense of shelter and welcome immediately upon arrival.
The Clock Tower: The tower is a remnant of the idea that a station should also be a landmark in the city, comparable to a church tower, but for the modern traveller.
