About the artwork

The woman this with a knife, half naked, topless in this portrait is Lucretia. Her upper body is exposed, leaving torso and breasts naked.

According to Roman tradition, Lucretia was the daughter of Titus Lucretius Tricipitinus and the wife of Lucius Tarquinius Collatinus. She was known for her beauty and even more for her virtue.

Sextus Tarquinius Superbus, one of the king's sons, captured an illicit desire for her at the sight of Lucretia's beauty and chastity.

Staying as a guest in the house of Tarquinius Collatinus, he violently dishonored Lucretia, committing two crimes at once (both against a Roman lady, and against the laws of hospitality).

After she told her husband and father about the prince's disgrace and ordered them to avenge her, she committed suicide with a knife that she had hidden under her clothes.

Guido Reni (pronunciation: gwē'dō rĕ'nē) (Bologna, 4 November 1575 - there, 18 August 1642) was an Italian painter. As a child he could regularly be found in the studio of the Flemish painter Denis Calvaert in Bologna.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
