The Groningen mudflats have beautiful salt marshes. At the Uithuizerwad, a bird area has been created inside the dike and on the other side of the dike is a beautiful area managed by nature. Low tide determines what happens here. Twice a day, seawater flows in and out through the various naturally formed channels. So too in this photo which with therefore the dried-up silt with the characteristic drought cracks.
Choosing this channel as the subject towards the horizon with the sun as the end and centre gives it a nice depth effect. The low-hanging clouds and the sun providing colour make it a picture to dream away.
I have been photographing since I was little, but the beauty of nature is something I really started to see by actively photographing landscapes and nature. By consciously standing still and taking in your surroundings you learn to look and feel differently.
