About ‘The early bird catches the worm’ by Matthias Stolt

During a photo shoot on Fuerteventura, the hotel was so fully booked that I had to share a room with the model. That's how this photo came about in the early hours of the morning. The model wasn't quite awake yet and looked at me in amazement as I fiddled with my camera at dawn. But it resulted in some very beautiful photos. The soft morning light created a harmonious skin tone and an impressive lighting atmosphere. The photo was taken on black-and-white slide film (Agfa Scala) with a fast telephoto lens and then scanned.

I worked as a freelance photo designer for 25 years. My focus was on fashion and advertising photography. I am also the author of numerous books and articles in trade magazines.
Before becoming self-employed, I worked in marketing for a large camera manufacturer, where I was in charge of public relations.

I discovered my love of photography during my training as a retoucher. This sparked a desire not only to edit photos, but to take them myself.
