About ‘The fishing net rack’ by Rene van Dam

The fishing net rack was originally built in the 1950s, during the time when seine fishing was common in the Lofoten Islands. It was used to dry and recover seines. Today's fish net rack was designed by an architect and based on the original. It is used in the production of delicate products such as pickled cod (boknafisk), stockfish snacks and split, salted and dried cod (klippfisk). So now the fish net rack is put to practical use, while at the same time emerging as a cultural monument.
