About "The joints of the world"

by Annette Falk Lund

About the artwork

What holds the world together? The balance of opposing forces. It has to be sounded out again and again. That is what this picture is about.
We see a face at rest with its eyes closed. On the left and right are various figures, which have been sketched out. In the centre, a human figure holds the whole thing together.
In terms of colour, the motif is in green, with a few variations on old pink, grey and umber.
It was created using a special mixed technique. The so-called stone paper was used, which the artist primarily works with. In the first step, a folded image was created from simple blobs. This was followed by a print in the second step. The next step was to (discover) the motif by omitting and adding individual elements using brushes and gouache colours.
The artist deals here with the profound changes on our planet. As on a large scale (society, nations...), so too on a small scale (family, circle of friends, partnerships...) friction arises from the clash of irreconcilable interests. Conflicts arise. Wars are fought. The consequences are sometimes serious. Prudence, foresight and a clear analysis are necessary. Then solutions can be found. In this picture, Annette Falk Lund describes her own fears, but also the hope that a higher human consciousness in the Buddhist sense can prevail.
